Summary

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is a 2008 musical comedy written and directed by Joss Whedon and starring Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day, and Nathan Fillion in a story about an aspiring evil villain named Dr. Horrible whose romantic pursuit of a beautiful young activist named Penny (Day) is foiled by his cocky, womanizing arch-nemesis, Captain Hammer (Fillion). Most of the short film is told through Dr. Horrible’s video blog segments, in which he discusses his latest evil achievements, his personal life, and his continuing attempts to be admitted into the prestigious Evil League of Evil. Dr. Horrible wants to start a relationship with Penny, but he has trouble playing the suave good guy while trying to disrupt the status quo and commit elaborate crimes. He’ll have to come up with a way to pursue both Penny and evil at the same time, or he’ll have to abandon one of them. Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is an acclaimed short film created specifically for release over the internet. Joss, Jed, and Zack Whedon wrote the film during the 2007-2008 WGA writers’ strike in an attempt to show the capabilities of new media.
